More than £23,000 raised in MIMA 2015 charity auction

The Meetings Industry Marketing Awards (MIMA) 2015 charity auction has raised more than £23,000 for Meetings Industry Meeting Needs.

Bidding for the auction’s 79 lots closed at 2pm on Tuesday with a flurry of activity in the final minutes.

Among the items up for grabs was a five night stay for two people at the five-star Beachcomber Dinarobin Hotel Golf & Spa resort in Mauritius, donated by Marketplaces Ltd/White Sand Tours/Beachcomber Hotels, which was won by Richard Waddington with a bid of £1,700.

Caroline Sumner bid £1,520 for an all-inclusive five night, chauffeur-driven wine tour of the Okanagan Valley, Canada, donated by Cantrav.

But the most popular lot was a five night stay for two people in an Ambassador Suite at the Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay, Malta, donated by the hotel, which attracted 60 bids and was eventually won by Adrian Silas for around £1,000.

All funds raised from the M&IT online auction go to Meetings Industry Meeting Needs (MIMN), a registered charity founded by leading figures in the UK conference and events industry.

The objective of MIMN is to raise funds for worthy causes relevant to the events industry that may not have the resources to raise sufficient funds without additional contributions.

Many needy causes do not have access to public funding and MIMN can provide financial support to these types of organisations through various fundraising initiatives and activities. For the latest information visit www.meetingneeds.org.uk.
